Mission
Reach's Mission: To support the adults with disabilities whom we serve to attain their individual potential and aspirations.
Services
Work
Services
Reach's Vocational program, Work Services, is comprised
of three divisions: Supported Employment, Labor Services
and Intensive Day Services. All divisions assist people
with disabilities in finding employment.
Supported
Employment
Staff members strive to find jobs in the community for Reach's clients. Once a job is found that can utilize the client's skills, a staff person assists in on-the-job training and provides follow-up coaching. Reach clients are employed by a variety of businesses; including Montana Ale Works, The Ridge, Comfort Inn, Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, Lee & Dad's, and the MSU SUB..
Labor
Services
Labor
Services is a 40-person work force of Reach clients who
are not yet working in the community, or who work at the
Reach Work center in addition to their community jobs.
Labor Services completes small assembly work, light
production tasks and mailing assembly for local
businesses. Staff members assist clients in learning the
skills they will need to complete the work and to develop
specific job skills. All clients at the Work Center are
covered under Department of Labor certificates and are
paid for their work at a rate that is commensurate with
other workers in the Bozeman area.
Intensive
Day Services
Reach
offers daytime services to adults with intensive medical
needs at the Work Center. Clients have opportunities to
work in Labor Services, to enjoy leisure activities and
to learn daily living skills.
Residential Services
Intensive
Group Homes
Reach
provides 24-hour services to people with intensive
medical needs and low self-help skill at two homes in
residential Bozeman neighborhoods. More intensive skill
training is provided and higher staff-to client ratios
exist in these homes, where individuals may need more
support to achieve their potential.
Regular Group
Homes
Reach
operates two regular group homes (townhouses) in
residential Bozeman neighborhoods, which offer 24-hour
staffing. Staff members assist residents in meeting their
team designed goals, such as housekeeping skills, meal
planning and preparation, money management, interpersonal
relations and use of community resources. Staff members
also assist clients in meeting their medical needs.
Transitional
Living
Reach
operates two transitional living apartment complexes in
residential Bozeman neighborhoods. Transitional living
offers limited supervision and training seven days a
week. Staff members assist clients in learning
self-initiation and self-monitoring in home living,
finances, medical care and social activities.
Supported
Independent Living
Clients enrolled in supported independent living have the
skills to live more independently, so staff members
average six hours a week with each client. These clients
rent independently from landlords in the community. While
Reach staff provide some training, more time is spent
helping clients obtain services for themselves.
Individual support services are also available for people
who have survived head injuries.
Transportation
Reach, under a contract with the state of Montana, provides transportation between residences and work sites for Reach clients. This includes both fixed route and on-demand rides.
Reach also provides other transportation services, including rides for medical appointments, grocery shopping and recreational outings.
TBI Services
Reach provides services to people who have
suffered Traumatic Brain Injuries. Both vocational and
residential services are available.
Vocational Rehabilitation
Through a agreement with the state Vocational
Rehabilitation program (VR), Reach provides job placement
and supported employment services to clients referred to
us by VR.
Private Pay
Individuals can obtain Reach services through
private pay contracts. Each persons individual needs are
assessed and a contract and price are negotiated
depending on the type of support the person wants Reach
to provide.
Funding
About 80% of Reach's funding comes from the State and Federal Government. Reach also depends upon funding from individual donations, private foundations, fund raising events.
Room and board charges from various sources make up about 5% of Reach's budget. Transitional living clients, for example, pay Reach $195 a month as apartment rent. This rent is less than half of the market rate for a one-bedroom apartment in Bozeman.
Donations take many forms, including volunteer time, needed equipment and cash. A prospective donor or volunteer may call Reach at 587-1271, or write to us at 2134 Industrial Dr., Bozeman MT 59715.
